Ways to make money this December

Last week, I shared a post on how to find love in Lagos this December. But, it appears you guys aren’t looking for love. I got so many responses saying ‘who love help?’ and ‘tell us how to find money please’.

Well, I can relate. This December has 5 weekends and na money dem dey use run detty December. If you’re anything like me, it’s safe to assume that November salary has already finished. So how do we get money to flex or meet those year-end financial goals?

Let’s explore these options together:

End Of The Year Gifts/Bonuses

Many companies offer gifts, bonuses and performance-based incentives to employees during December. It’s something nice to look forward to. If you’re not sure about your company’s plans or policies, check with your employer or manager to see if there’s a bonus program in place. If you’re not eligible for any bonus based on your performance, then it’s time to look into improving that.

Explore Your Closet

You have no idea what hidden treasures lie in the pockets of your long lost jeans. Set aside time to dive into the depths of your wardrobe and you just might find some forgotten cash or other valuables tucked away. Think of it as a treasure hunt in your own home.

If you don’t find anything in your own pockets, expand the hunt to cover the pockets of your family members. Your male family members are more likely to leave cash in their pockets.

Money on The Ground

Keep your eyes peeled as you walk around this month. Sometimes, you might be lucky and stumble upon some cash on the ground. Just be careful sha. If you turn to yam please don’t call my name.

You can also stay alert for forgotten bags and/or briefcases in cabs and banks. You just might stumble on some millions. Also, you get cool points if you ‘return’ the bag to the owner. Best case, you’ll get rewarded with cash and be praised for being upstanding. Worst case, they’ll tell you ‘Thank you so much, God bless you’ and keep it moving.

Attend Owambes

If you know how to gbe body, you’re in luck. December is littered with owambes and these present an opportunity for you to dance and get sprayed with crisp bills. Be sure to get the attention of a rich mummy or daddy so that they’ll spray you well.

If you don’t have an invite to any party, don’t fret. Just ensure you have your white agbada laundered and ready to go. Pair it with black sunglasses and keep a straight face as you walk in. Chances are that you’ll scale through the security screening. Again, if dem bounce you, sorry. Dust yourself off and try a different location.

Freelance Gigs and Side Hustles

Offering freelance services can be a great way to earn extra cash this December. Depending on your skill set, you can explore opportunities in writing, graphic design, tutoring, photography, or driving for ride-hailing services (borrow your uncle’s car and sign up on InDrive or something.)

The Laddar community on Fusion also helps individuals make extra income on the side. You can refer different products and services to people and get paid for it. Join the community to learn how it works.

Sell Off Unwanted Items

December is an excellent time to declutter your home. You can find items you no longer need and list them on online declutter pages. These items can be books, clothes, gadgets and electrical appliances. But before you run off to do that, please ensure that whatever item you want to list is yours to sell.

Join Giveaways and Contests

Be on the lookout for giveaways and contests happening on social media. These online competitions are a fun way to potentially win cash prizes and other valuable goods. Just be ready to put your ego aside because in most cases, you’ll be required to share a post or make a video, acknowledging the brand. If you don’t mind doing that, then you’re good to go.

While you’re out there finding those extra bucks, don’t forget to save and transact on Fusion for a seamless and enjoyable financial experience.

I’m not just saying this because I have to. I can guarantee that Fusion offers the fastest transfers in Nigeria so you know you’ll never be stranded. You’re welcome!
