Whether we like it or not, social media has become a key aspect of our daily lives. Everyone is always scrolling one social media platform or the other whenever they’re with their phones.

According to Data Reportal, the average person spends about 2.5 hours on social media every day. That’s about 864 hours in a year. That’s mind blowing but pretty understandable .

Social media is now where everything “happens”.  It is where we now find jobs, breaking news, friends, partners and even missing family members. 

This is a curated list of the top social media apps to be on in this new year (2024) so you don’t miss out on anything. 

1. TikTok: 

This app needs no introduction. It came into the scene and instantly reshaped the way we consume short-form video content. The Covid-19 lockdown really had us all on TikTok because what else were we supposed to do?

From viral dance challenges to unsolicited online therapy, TikTok where all the cool kids go to be creative and entertained.

Recently, the app has also been trying to replace google as the number one search engine for young people. 

I know some of you (yes, millennials, I’m talking to you) have vowed never to download TikTok but I’m here to tell you that you’re missing out.

With its wide range of interesting filters and temporary messages style, Snapchat has changed how we record and share moments with our loved ones.

If you need a platform where you can keep in touch with your friends and family every day without even having to say a word, the streaks feature is perfect for you. 

Unconfirmed sources also say that it is the home of debauchery so if you have a sneaky link (or are looking to find one), you know where to go. I mean, why do messages disappear if not for the elimination of evidence.
