Now, if you were given $10,000 to visit any state(s) in Nigeria, where would you go?

You’re probably thinking about flying into Lagos and fantasizing about how you’re going to splash money in clubs and beaches like Asake but what if I told you there’s other interesting things to do and more interesting Nigerian cities to spend your time?

Think about how refreshed you would feel when you escape the hustle and bustle of Lagos and really live well.

Let’s check out a few of them.

Rivers state is home to the award-winning, ovation-deserving bole and fish. Known by its indigenes as ‘Pitakwa’ and by all as PH, Port Harcourt is the capital city in Rivers State.

This beautiful city is a balance of modern city life on one side and serene coast on the other. It has the perfect blend of civilization and nature. Its white, sandy beaches and cool waters make it the perfect getaway location for beach lovers. If this is your scene, then check out Tourist Beach. The water there is great for swimming and there are tons of other fun activities for solo travellers, families and couples.

The Port Harcourt Cultural Centre is another great spot for lovers of culture. It offers displays of antiques, preserves and artefacts that would thrill art lovers. The Rivers State Museum is also worth a visit. If you love nature and photography enthusiasts, you would have a swell time at the Port Harcourt zoo.

It is impossible to talk about Enugu and not mention the Awhum Waterfalls. It is nestled under ginormous walls of limestone and is made up of two cascading streams of natural falls that fall from different heights. The first fall is smaller and it intrudes the cave halfway from the entrance. The larger fall is found at the end of the path and is bracketed by thick forests which adds to its tropical beauty.
