Nigerians are everywhere in the world and wherever we go, we shine. Before the word ‘Japa’ was coined, Nigerians had been migrating abroad for greener pastures. So don’t be surprised if you visit certain countries and you find Nigerians in them, infact, there are countries where we have streets and settlements owned by Nigerians or their offspring. There’s a saying that anywhere in the world you don’t see a Nigerian living in, the place isn’t habitable or hospitable. Here are 5 countries Nigerians always love to japa to!

UNITED STATES OF AMERICA (USA)

USA

Number one on the list is the United States of America. This place is a land of dreams and opportunity, “flowing with milk and honey.” Education, job security and investment opportunities abound here if you are not lazy. The ladder to success here is supposedly short and they prioritize highly educated people as well as sports people. They have some areas with good weather like California, Texas and Florida with temperatures similar to Nigeria. The only challenge is getting into the country but once you do, your life will change and when you convert your dollar, well you can be sure that your accent will change. I’ll stop here for now.

CANADA

This country is the one I like to refer to as the happy place. Everyone relocating to Canada always has a spring in their step at the airport. People love to go to Canada because of the ease of becoming a citizen (3-5 years), working for the government and a good educational system. Canada has a very beautiful landscape but the only challenge is that Canadian weather can be very harsh, so if you want to go there, get ready. In all, the people in that country are happy.

AUSTRALIA

Relocating to this land is like travelling for a holiday and living in a holiday destination with about 12,000 beaches along its coastline, so many forests and landscape for adventure. The land is very fertile for agriculture and getting a great job isn’t hard. The only challenge with Australia is that you might need to love animals, especially wild animals because you might just wake up to a Kangaroo looking over your head.

UNITED KINGDOM

A land close to Nigeria, you don’t have to spend long flight hours to get there, the land of the King with so many ancient landmarks. A great land to experience. It’s known for its educational pathway to residency. Going to school is quite easy there and the train system is very efficient, the language is one you are already used to and you would easily find a Nigerian here. The country rewards only the hard-working, so if you like to sleep don’t bother going there.

GERMANY

a place in Germany

Germans enjoy one of the cheapest cost of living in the world. They have very wonderful public transport systems so you might not need to get a car when you live in Germany. It has some beautiful landscapes too and getting a job is one of the easiest things you can do in Germany.

Once you learn the language, then you are good to go. If you are a sports person, then this land is one of your best options. The diplomatic ties of Germany are so numerous, you might just find that a German passport can take you anywhere in the world.
