This week was quite eventful. One drama on the heel of another, we barely had enough time to take it all in; just when we were complaining about the new national anthem, hike in fuel prices, electricity tariff, cost of food and medication, we suddenly found out our Nigerian passport is stronger than a Canadian passport and our president did a thing (pun intended)! The Labour union crushed the hopes of many Nigerian workers for a full blown protest as people expected the rumoured strike to commence on Tuesday but they had other plans that did not involve carrying placards and shouting aluta continua. Democracy day Drama
Our democracy day celebration was full of drama. A lot of interesting activities happened; from the unveiling of the award winning painting, to the amazing bikers parade where one of the machines had to be pushed off the parade ground because its fuel got exhausted, to the heartstopping moment when our president decided he needed to greet Nigerians the way his culture demands and he gave a grand “dobale.”
