Still an intern. Still fighting for my life. But at least now, I fight with style.

Just when you thought I was done oversharing my internship adventures… surprise! I’m back like I forgot my charger. Being a digital marketing intern is not the glamorous coffee-and-Instagram life they show you on Pinterest boards (even though I get to work from Cafe One every other day.) It’s vibes, work (a lot of work, mehn), near-tears, small wins, and conductors calling you names your ancestors didn’t see coming.

The journey hasn’t exactly been a bed of roses, but I’ve grown, learned, and passed through the Seven Doors of Lagos stress. And guess what? I’m still breathing.

Let me take you behind the scenes of what last week looked like; from near bus-station meltdowns to publishing my own article and falling even deeper in love with content creation.

Transportation Wahala

Bus and a conductor with passengers

Fortunately for me, I get to work from home most days. But the day I have to leave home, best believe there’s a conductor or driver drama waiting for me.

The other day, a driver told me to leave his bus in the most uncouth manner, just because he wasn’t getting any more passengers. I tried cautioning him, you know, standing up for myself as a strong independent woman… And he told me  (my head is not correct), and even called me “egbere” (bush baby).

Lagos is really not a real place!

More Content Equals More Fun

At this point, it’s safe to say that I enjoy content creation a little too much. Doing it with my superiors makes it even more fun.

We created a couple of content from the previous week, and I had a great time doing it. I have been learning quite a number of things too, asides just having fun.

Customer Service Duty

If you have ever worked as a customer care representative, then you’d understand the complexity of the role.

Sometimes I enjoy it, other times (which is most times, to be honest), I just want to run away. But of course, I wouldn’t do that, our customers are Kings.

Writing And Publishing

This one, I truly enjoy doing! I have always wanted to be part of this team, but that didn’t happen until recently when I was told to write an article about my internship journey.

I really love what writing does to me. It makes me get creative, it brings out the writing skill I believe I have, and makes me feel like I can now write and publish a book titled “How To Navigate Life As An Intern.” Hehehe

I would love to tell you, but what’s the fun in that really? There’s definitely more to find out as we progress in this amazing journey.
