People on a group trip

Group trips are like reality TV shows without subscription or a winner; the excitement, the drama, the chaos, personalities clashing and blending. It’s always an epic entertainment!

Whether it’s a weekend getaway with friends, a work bonding trip, a college tour, or a family vacation. Just have a bunch of people with different habits, characters, and ideas of fun, in the same space and you’ve got yourself a show

These are the people who make the trip unforgettable…either the kind you’ll cherish forever or the kind you’ll need therapy to forget.

Here are 11 types of people you will find during a group trip.

1. The Oversabi

Woman heading a meeting

These ones think they are event planners. They have a journal full of itineraries of all that will happen on the trip. They can easily get anyone to believe that every other person on the trip is their employee.

Without them, the group might miss the bus or forget to book an accommodation.

Their organization can be a blessing, and sometimes an annoyance, especially when the group just wants to go with the flow instead of having a mapped-out fun.

2. Perpetual Latecomer

Picture showing not fully packed

They are always five minutes or thirty minutes behind. They are never fully packed, even while the Uber is waiting outside. Eventually, they come running out after an eternity, the box half closed, looking confused, with the silly question “wait, what are we doing today?”

These ones make the trip a memorable one because at the end, there is a story to tell about how you almost missed the bus (or worse, your flight).

3. The Overpacker

Woman and her luggage for a group trip

It’s just a 3-day trip, but there’s always that one person with a box bigger than them, filled with a month’s worth of clothing, and at least one item that makes you think; “why would anyone even bring that?”

You would almost think they are leaving the country, and not going for a weekend getaway.

Good thing is, you can always go to them for anything you forgot to bring, that is if you are not on their black list though.

4. The “Nap” Lord

Man sleeping

You barely see much of this person, but when you do, they are probably sleepwalking.

While others are engaged in different fun activities, this person is napping away at a corner, on a bench, with sunglasses on, of course.

Then you wonder how they are wide awake in the evening, eyes glittering like a bulb, ready to party, when it is time for others to sleep.

5. The Content Creator

Trip content creation

Anything for the gram! Right from when they get on the bus, down to the location. They need the perfect angle, and at least 62 photos before leaving a spot.

Be prepared to pose, re-pose, and wait while they upload their story with the perfect filter.

Every moment is content. They need every detail for their vlog and 100 followers.

6. The Foodie

Man eating

The trip is not really what they are concerned about, but their stomach.

Asides the food that will be served in the hotel, they have a long list of researched restaurants that they will be visiting.

As long as there is food, then they are good. Hungry or not, they just always want to try something new.

7. The Toilet-Friendly

Man using the toilet

The foodie can easily be tagged as toilet-friendly. These ones are in the toilet almost half of the day.

After eating every single thing they lay hands on, even the ones they have not eaten before, it’s impossible not to frequent the toilet.

You dare not go to the toilet when they have just left there. You need to wait at least thirty minutes before going in. These ones will make you want therapy to forget the trip.

8. The Economist

woman calculating trip expenses

You really can’t blame these ones. With the price of things and exchange rate? If you are not economical, you should be a fraud suspect.

These ones have the ability to do mental math at lightning speed, they can calculate your share of a group meal before the waiter even drops the bill.

They are nowhere to be found when the group decides to have just one expensive fun activity. But let’s be honest, their financial vigilance keeps everyone in check.

9. The Adventurous One

Climbing a cliff during a trip

These ones are most likely living the life of a cat. Any activity that involves jumping from a skyscraper to the ground, their adrenaline is pumped.

Although their idea of fun is sometimes slightly dangerous, they are the reason your heart is racing, but you will never be bored on the trip.

They are also in the category that makes the trip a memorable one, the one you will cherish forever.

10. Queen (or King) Of Complaints

Woman displeased

The food is too spicy, the hotel’s too far, the Wi-Fi’s too slow. There is always something to complain about. You wonder how they even get to enjoy the trip.

As much as their constant grumbling can be exhausting, sometimes it has an advantage, because they’re actually able to point out real issues no one else noticed. And guess who’s going to create a scene to make sure you get a better room? Yeah… Them!

11. The Peacekeeper

A peaceful woman

They diffuse tensions, smooth over arguments, and ensure everyone’s voice is heard. When tempers flare, they’re the calm in the storm, with humour and empathy.

You would never see them cause any trouble, even when their toes are stepped on, there is hardly any reaction from them. Every group needs this person.
